Managing a house can really be a challenge as you have to fight a minute by minute war with dirt and other unpleasant contaminants. Have you ever wondered whether there are easier ways to do things where you didn’t have to struggle so much?

Well here are some life hacks to help you maintain yourself. These tips and tricks have been shared by netizens from all over the world who want to share their wisdom and knowledge. These hacks will hopefully help you save time, money and energy around the house:

• To remove that oily smell and other cooking smells that permeate your house and just won’t go away even after opening all doors and windows, try boiling 3 cups of water mixed with half a cup of lemon juice. This will make your house smell fresh and fruity.

• If the metallic parts of your bathroom have whitish or green lines or stains ( these are called lime stains and are the result of minerals mixed with soapy material), simply apply some vinegar on the area and wrap some plastic around it. Leave for several hours and scrub clean

• In order to clean the tracks for sliding doors or sliding windows, use cotton buds (some people call them Q-tips), dip in some white vinegar and mop up the dust. Cotton buds are really useful in reaching small corners

• Don’t throw away used toilet paper rolls (you know, the round brown cardboard cylinder in the centre), but use them to organize you different cables and cords, especially around the computer area.

• Put some old newspaper at the bottom of your rubbish bin to absorb any spilled liquids

• To clean microwaves from splatter, microwave some lemon in water and then wipe down with a towel

• Use shower caps to store shoes you’re not wearing. This will keep the dust away

• Use old ice trays to store small items like screws, earring, beads and more!

• Store plastic bags in tissue boxes for easy retrieval

• The best way to remove oil and stains from your stove and oven in by using equal parts white vinegar, baking soda and cleaning detergent. Leave the paste on the stove or oven surface for a few hours and then remove them with a sponge.

• Use a hair dryer to remove water ring stains on you wooden furniture. Just blow hot air close to the stain and it should disappear within a few minutes.

• To remove stubborn carpet stains, mix one part vinegar and 2 parts water. Spray this onto the stain and then lay over it a towel that has been soaked in the same vinegar and water mixture. Iron the area for s few seconds. If the stain is stubborn, leave the iron on longer.
